Restoring ecosystems through contaminated sediment treatment.

Technology

Water Treatment

Treats dredging and wash water to meet discharge standards.

DREDGING WATER TREATMENT

Safely managing dredging and wash water with
secondary-pollution control technology

Dredging-water treatment controls suspended solids, fine sludge and wash water generated during sediment processing through settling, coagulation, dewatering and filtration, preventing off-site contaminant spread.

Soil Resources integrates dredged-soil collection, Soil Washing, sludge dewatering and effluent management into one continuous water-treatment process. Treated water is managed within applicable limits and, where practical, reused as wash water to reduce water consumption and secondary-pollution risk.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Dredging-Water Treatment Matters

Fine sludge and suspended solids are generated during contaminated-sediment collection. Without proper treatment, dredging itself can spread pollution, making water treatment essential to the quality of environmental dredging.

Suspended-Solids Reduction

Suspended solids and fine sludge are separated by settling, coagulation and dewatering for stable effluent quality.

Wash-Water Recirculation

Process water is reused where site conditions allow, reducing water consumption and the risk of secondary pollution from discharge.

Integrated Sludge Dewatering

Fine sludge separated during water treatment is recovered as dewatered cake and routed to stabilization and soil improvement.

PROCESS

Dredging-Water Treatment Process

Dredging and wash water pass through settling, coagulation, solid-liquid separation, dewatering and filtrate treatment to produce treated water and sludge cake.

01 Water Collection

Contaminated water generated by dredging and washing is collected into the treatment system.

02 Settling & Coagulation

Fine particles and suspended solids are settled, with coagulation used as needed to improve separation.

03 Solid-Liquid Separation

Supernatant and sludge are separated; water proceeds to further treatment and sludge to dewatering.

04 Dewatering & Filtrate Treatment

Sludge is recovered as dewatered cake and filtrate is retreated to meet water-quality standards.

05 Reuse or Discharge

Treated water is reused for washing or discharged after confirming compliance.

PERFORMANCE

High-Performance Water Treatment

Dredging water must be treated before discharge in accordance with project specifications. High removal efficiency for SS, BOD and other parameters helps prevent contaminant spread.

SS: treated to within +15 ppm of on-site raw-water baseline
